ABOUT ME

Ms. Bangert has been a civil rights attorney for the past 18 years, practicing in numerous federal district and appeals courts. She specializes in difficult constitutional law cases, such as a suit on behalf of members of the Crow Tribe against the FBI for equal protection and due process violations. A major focus of Ms. Bangert’s practice is First Amendment litigation, including whistleblower cases, free speech of government employees, and suits against churches. Her most infamous case, however, involved the criminal defense of a retired French professor who left a campaign brochure wrapped in dog poop at Marilyn Musgrave’s congressional office. (Yes, defense of First Amendment rights can be messy.) Ms. Bangert has also represented clients in numerous suits against law enforcement authorities when those authorities have pushed the boundaries of constitutional rights. Her civil rights work also includes advocacy for animals.

Another major area of Ms. Bangert’s focus is statutory anti-discrimination cases, including employment discrimination, which means she has sued most government agencies and her fair share of Fortune 500 companies on behalf of those whose rights have been violated. Ms. Bangert frequently litigates cases in state and federal administrative courts, including the EEOC, the MSPB, the State Personnel Board and the Denver Career Service Board.
